Demand for ban on 'Hate Story 2' made in Karnataka Assembly

A demand for ban on the screening of Hate Story 2, a Bollywood erotic thriller, was made in the Karnataka Assembly today by a JDS member who alleged that the movie may affect gullible minds and instigate them to commit crimes against women “including rape”.

“Screening of Hate Story 2 should be stopped for some bold scenes in the film which affects gullible minds to commit crimes including rapes against women,” Y S V Datta said. The film directed by Vishal Pandya, is the sequel to the 2012 sleeper hit Hate Story starring Paoli Dam and Gulshan Devaiya.
State Home Minister K J George said he has asked the police to examine the film and submit a report. Raising the issue during the debate on increasing rape incidents in the state, Datta said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Home Minister should direct the police to examine the “steamy” scenes depicted in the film.
The film has already courted controversy after the Censor Board had objected to the sex scenes as part of the trailer and music video on television channels, which prompted the producers to edit certain portions. “I have asked Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar to examine the alleged steamy scenes in the film, and action would be taken accordingly after submission of a report,” George said.
